"Refinished the original 1940s fir floors in our South Eugene bungalow. They look better than I imagined possible. The crew was respectful, on time, and dust was almost zero."
"Got three quotes for new hardwood in the whole main floor. Theirs wasn't cheapest but the owner walked us through every option. We're so glad we hired them — true craftsmen."
"They squeezed us in for a water-damage repair near the dishwasher. Matched the existing wood so well I literally can't find the patch. Saved us thousands vs. replacing the whole floor."

Answers to the questions Eugene homeowners ask us most often.
It varies quite a bit by wood species, finish, and condition of the subfloor. Refinishing typically runs less than new installation. We give every customer a free, written quote with at least two options before any work begins — so you'll know the exact cost before committing.
A standard refinish on a 500–800 sq ft area is usually 3–5 days including dry time. New installations vary based on size and prep needed. We give you a precise timeline in writing with your estimate.
Yes — we use HEPA-filtered dust containment systems. It's not literally zero dust, but it's a small fraction of what traditional sanding produces. Most customers can stay in the home during the project.
Yes. We're fully licensed in Oregon, bonded, and carry general liability and workers' comp insurance. We're happy to share certificates on request.
Eugene, Springfield, Junction City, Veneta, Cottage Grove, Creswell, and most of Lane County. If you're not sure whether you're in our service area, just text us and we'll let you know.
Absolutely. Every project comes with a written workmanship warranty, and we stand behind our installs and refinishes long after the job is done. If something isn't right, we make it right.
Pricing in the Eugene and Lane County market typically falls into a range that depends on the condition of the floor, the wood species, and the finish you choose. Heavily damaged floors with deep gouges, water staining, or pet damage cost more because they need extra prep, board replacement, or color correction. Standard maintenance refinishes on oak or fir cost less. We provide a written, itemized estimate before any work begins so there are no surprises.
Eugene's climate is mild but humid, so dimensional stability matters. White oak is the most popular choice — durable, takes stain beautifully, and handles humidity swings well. Red oak is more affordable and gives that classic golden tone. Hickory is the hardest of the common species and stands up to busy households. Engineered hardwood is a good option for basements or homes with radiant heat. We'll walk you through the trade-offs of each during your free estimate.
If your floors have at least 1/8" of wear layer above the tongue (you can usually check at a heating vent or doorway), refinishing is almost always the better value — it's about half the cost of a new installation and preserves the original character of older Eugene homes. If the floors have been refinished multiple times already, have widespread water damage, or are over-thin engineered planks, replacement may be the only option. We'll tell you honestly what you're working with.
You can refinish year-round in Eugene, but late spring through early fall is ideal. Lower humidity means faster drying for water-based finishes, and you can open windows to ventilate. Winter projects are perfectly doable — we use HEPA-filtered dust containment and low-VOC finishes that work in any season. Booking earlier in the year often means more flexible scheduling.
Yes. Water damage from leaks, dishwasher failures, or flooding, and pet stains that have penetrated into the wood are some of our most common repair jobs. We can replace damaged boards, weave in matching new wood, and color-match the surrounding floor so the repair disappears. We're often able to save floors that other contractors said needed full replacement.
For most projects, yes. Sanding rooms are sealed off with plastic sheeting, dust is captured with HEPA-filtered equipment, and we use low-VOC, fast-drying finishes. You'll need to stay off the freshly-finished floors for 24–48 hours and avoid moving heavy furniture for about a week. We coordinate the schedule so you can use other parts of the home throughout the project.
Remove small furniture, valuables, and area rugs from the work area. We'll handle moving large furniture as part of the job (no extra charge). Disconnect electronics from the rooms being worked on. If you have pets, plan to keep them out of the work area or boarded for sanding days. We send a detailed prep checklist with every estimate.
